Hope on the Horizon

Sarah's Story

Sarah (not her real name) is a survivor of family violence since the age of 5, married three times and was abused in each relationship. (Nobody spoke of these issues back then.) She entered the Alternatives to Violence Program on November 21, 2014 at 60 years old. Sarah left the program on January 11, 2015 but stayed on as a community client for over 9 months, receiving individual and group support. That was 7 years ago. Today Sarah has a wealth of knowledge and strength that has moved her forward in healing from domestic violence. With ongoing attendance at YWCA Rock County support groups, she continues to heal. Sarah is an inspiration to others by showing that it is possible to become independent after leaving an abusive relationship.

YWCA Rock County has hope on the horizon with your help. Will you help us keep that hope alive? Your support will directly impact the lives of women, children, and families in our community.

Between 2019 - 2020, 313 forensic interviews were conducted, giving abused children their chance to begin their healing process at the CARE House.

In 2020, we provided 20,610 nights of safe shelter to women and children in our Transitions Program and Emergency Shelter.

Empowerment Services provided support for over 100 women.

In 2019, 535 neighborhood children were able to gather safely in their own school in our Before and After School Program.

The Immigrant Outreach Program served 580 clients in 2019, and over 600 people attended the 6th Annual Racial Justice Conference virtually in 2020.

Your gift provides the needed resources for YWCA Rock County to keep pace with helping the women, children and families we serve each year.
